How to Switch Amazon Country on Seller Central?

If you’ve been an Amazon seller for quite a while, you’ve probably considered opening multiple Amazon seller accounts or selling on other Amazon marketplaces.

If you’re doing it already, here’s an easy way to switch Amazon country on Seller Central.

  1. Go to Amazon Seller Central and log in.
  2. From Seller Central’s home page, go to your store name at the top of the page.
  3. On the drop-down menu, pick the country you want to access.

Please note that the other marketplaces or countries will not automatically appear on the drop-down menu. You need to register before seeing the other marketplaces in your Seller Central account.

Amazon sellers are allowed to sell in a new country through Global Registration. If you are interested in selling to a different region where Amazon operates, here’s how to register.

  1. Once logged in to your Seller Central account, click on Sell Globally. Make sure you are logged in to the country you are already selling. You can find the Sell Globally option on the drop-down menu from Inventory.
  2. Search for the tab of the country or region where you want to sell and register. Click on your preferred country.
  3. Click Register on the country where you want to sell.
  4. You may be asked to sign in again. Make sure to use the email address and password you’re currently using for the country where you are selling.
  5. You may be asked to submit additional details so you can complete the registration process. Be sure to give the correct and necessary information. After that, the new country you registered to sell will merge automatically.

Please note that registration requirements may vary depending on the region or country where you want to register and sell. Below are the requirements for each marketplace.

North America (US, Canada, Mexico)

  • Amazon.com
  • Amazon.ca
  • Amazon.mx

Selling in North America is available for both Individual and Professional selling plans. Suppose you have a North America Unified Account.

In that case, you can easily switch from any North American marketplace in your Seller Central under seller tools to list your products and manage your orders.

Account Setup

You need to provide the following:

  • Valid credit card
  • Bank account
  • Tax information
  • Phone number

As part of seller verification, you may be required to submit additional documents like scanned copies of your national ID, passport, and bank account or credit card statement.

For your bank account, it must be located in a country where Amazon Currency Converter is supported. It must also be up to date, and your seller account needs to have a business address associated with your bank account.

If you want to expand your Amazon business in the U.S., you need to learn how to find U.S. suppliers the right way first.

Europe (Germany, France, Spain, UK, Italy, Netherlands)

  • Amazon.de
  • Amazon.fr
  • Amazon.es
  • Amazon.co.uk
  • Amazon.it
  • Amazon.nl

When you register to any Amazon European marketplaces, your Amazon seller account will enable you to sell on all Amazon European marketplaces automatically.

This means that you can manage all your European selling accounts in one place. It is also available for both Individual and Professional selling plans.

Account Setup

You need to provide the following:

  • Valid credit card
  • Phone number
  • Tax information

As part of seller verification, you may be required to submit additional documents like scanned copies of your national ID, passport, and bank account or credit card statement.

You are required to have one bank account for each marketplace and a total of five deposit methods across multiple marketplaces. You can also use the Amazon Currency converter if you wish to register a bank account in a different region or country from where you are selling.

All bank accounts need to be verified, which normally takes at least four business days to get verified. While you’ll be able to sell on Amazon, you won’t be able to disburse to your bank account until the verification process is complete.

Be sure to prepare the necessary bank documents such as a bank statement, Relevé d’Identité Bancaire (RIB), and a certified bank letter. You will be asked to upload these documents to complete the verification process.

Pacific-Asia (Japan, Australia, Singapore)

  • Amazon.co.jp
  • Amazon.com.au
  • Amazon.sg

Selling in Pacific Asia is available for both Individual and Professional selling plans. You can manage. You can use the Global Sales Summary if you have linked accounts to view marketplace trends and switch to your accounts in different regions.

To finish the verification process, you may be asked to provide additional documents like scanned copies of your passport, bank account and credit card statement, or your national ID.

For Japan Marketplace, you need to submit identity verification documents. These are photo identification and bill statement. For photo identification, you can submit your driver’s license, residence card, passport, or basic resident registration card with your photo.

For your bill or statement, it should be issued within 180 days. It can be a savings account passbook, balance certificate, internet banking statement of account, or credit card statement.

The photo identification you will submit should be within its validity period, and your name on it should match with the information you have registered on Seller Central.

Middle East ( United Arab Emirates, Turkey)

  • Amazon.ae
  • Amazon.com.tr

Selling in the Middle East is available for both Individual and Professional selling accounts. The Sell Globally Dashboard is only available for the United Arab Emirates but not for Turkey. This means that you cannot register in Turkey using linked accounts.

Account Setup

You need to provide the following:

  • Valid credit card
  • Phone number
  • Tax information

As part of their verification process, you may be required to provide additional documents like scanned copies of your national ID, passport, or credit card and bank statements.

For international sellers interested in selling in India (Amazon.in), you may directly contact Amazon. For Brazil (Amazon.com.br), it is by invitation only for international sellers.

Recently, Amazon added the video call verification process, which is currently available for merchant applicants based in the U.S., China, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

This additional verification process is to prevent sellers from registering multiple accounts by using fake utility bills and private internet networks.

Before selling on Amazon, be sure to read the Amazon Business Solutions Agreement first to protect yourself and avoid violating their policies. You might also want to consider enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry to protect your brand if you’re creating your private label.

Currently, Amazon only accepts trademarks that were issued by government trademark offices in the U.S., Singapore, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and more. For additional information about Amazon Brand Registry requirements for each country, you check it out here

Benefits of Selling on Other Amazon Marketplaces

If you’re interested in selling on other Amazon marketplaces, here are some of its benefits.

Increase Customer Reach

Amazon has millions of users worldwide, and if you sell internationally, you can reach more customers. You will not only reach out to millions of shoppers in the U.S. but also across the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, India, and Brazil.

Just make sure your Amazon listings are translated into their language too.

Ease of Entering Into New Market

Another benefit is you can easily enter a new market quickly. You can easily build trust through Amazon’s brand. We’re all aware of how challenging it is to introduce a brand to a new market or audience, much more to a new country.

You will have to consider if your products are culturally relevant to them.

Savings on Shipping Cost

You can save on shipping costs through the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program by sending your products in bulk to Amazon’s fulfillment centers rather than shipping them directly to customers in a different region.

With Amazon FBA, they will handle the packaging and shipping of your orders. This can help you save money that you can use on other aspects of your business, such as your marketing campaigns.

Improve Cash Flows

When you sell in different regions, you can improve your cash flows and take advantage of festive seasons in different marketplaces. You are not limited to getting sales only in the U.S but throughout the world.

You can also earn in different currencies and adjust your pricing depending on which country you are selling.

Conclusion

Switching countries on Amazon is not as complicated as others thought. As long as you are registered globally and have linked your accounts, you can easily manage your seller accounts in other marketplaces.

Selling in different countries has its benefits. However, it may not be for everyone. If you think you are ready to venture into selling internationally, make sure to follow Amazon’s policy.
