Amazon Product Comparison Tools – Which One Stands Out The Most?

by Tomer

October 13, 2021

Whether you’re just browsing or doing serious research on Amazon, comparing products can be a time-consuming task. It doesn’t have to be that hard!

To help you save your energy, we’ve compiled a list of the best Amazon product comparison research tools to use from both buyer and seller perspectives. When comparing products to competing brands, using these tools will provide relevant information for you to make the best decisions.

Why Do I Need To Compare Products?

Amazon product comparison is a research task that is a huge factor in determining your success if you are an Amazon seller. Opening product listings one-by-one can get confusing! That’s where useful tools come in.

When it comes to direct competition, sellers should focus on similar products and look at how they can be different from other sellers. When your product is very similar to another seller’s, consider looking at their reviews and feedback. You can have objectively better quality products than other sellers, but oftentimes what wins over customers is what they read under product reviews and seller feedback.

On the other hand, if you’re a casual buyer, you would want to get the best value for your money. Product comparison allows you to see what else is out there aside from the most familiar brands. Spending the time to research less popular brands with great quality but at a lower price can not only be beneficial to your wallet, but also to help out smaller businesses.

Just A Casual Buyer? Use These Amazon Product Comparison Tools To Help You Choose

Amazon’s Built-in Feature

Amazon’s website has sections on product listing pages to compare similar products. All you have to do is open a particular product listing, scroll down, and view the “Compare with similar items” or “Customers who viewed this item also viewed” sections.

There will be differences on which kinds of comparison sections will appear depending on the product listing. Just keep your eyes out and look at the product listing pages thoroughly.

Alternatively, on the Amazon mobile app, there are product comparison charts towards the bottom of product listing pages.

FeatureCompare Browser Extension

People often need more information than what can be seen under Amazon’s built-in comparison sections. There are existing browser extensions that provide more thorough information when comparing products.

The FeatureCompare Browser extension adds a tab on the Amazon product page, with detailed comparison information. They provide you with a pricing range for all the products included in one comparison page.

You will also see the differences in:

  • Product dimensions
  • Product weight and sizes
  • Customer ratings
  • Product features, and a lot more.

It is all viewable on one page, saving you time from comparisons across multiple pages and crowding tabs on your browser.

Knowing these tools that potential customers can use will help you understand the information that they will look at when making their purchasing decisions. This way, you can make sure you are filling out all the fields on your product listings to give them as much information as possible.

Selling On Amazon? Use These Product Comparison Tools For Your Business

Amazon sellers have a lot to keep track of and monitor. The comparisons that sellers have to do to maintain their businesses are vastly different from how buyers compare products. Sellers have to compare their ranking, marketing, pricing, keywords, optimization, sales volume, net margin, and much more to their competitors. Thankfully, there are software tools that can help sellers save time from this exhausting research.

One may be surprised to find out that this is a product research tool that also incorporates Walmart and Alibaba aside from Amazon. So if you’d like to view where you can source your products and compare yourself to the competition on another marketplace, this is a good Chrome extension for you!

Helium 10 organizes their extension into 7 different tools:

  • Xray – Product research

This allows you to view Total Revenue, Average Revenue, Average BSR, Average Price, and Success Score for a list of products under a given keyword.

  • ASIN Grabber
  • Profitability Calculator
  • Inventory Levels
  • Review Insights
  • Alibaba Supplier Finder
  • Demand Analyzer

SellerApp Extension

Although very similar to the others, SellerApp’s Chrome extension has a few small differences from their competition which we will get into later.

Like the others, SellerApp allows you to view:

  • Average price
  • Average sales
  • Average sales rank
  • Average Reviews
  • Opportunity Score
  • Product keywords
  • Profit Calculator
  • Listing Quality
  • Product alerts (for things such as pricing, listing quality, BSR, reviews, and more)
  • Price and Review trends history

However, SellerApp also allows you to view Regular items from Sponsored items and labels Prime sellers.

One great feature that SellerApp has is that it allows you to choose specific items to include in a comparison tracker, whereas the other tools only show a full list of products under a given keyword.

Final Thoughts

To answer the question – which tool stands out the most? At the end of the day, it all comes down to which one meets your personal needs and is easiest for you to use, especially because it could be a tool that you will use on a regular basis.

If you’re an Amazon seller, knowing where your product ranks in comparison to others will help you make informed decisions on pricing or marketing strategies that might be needed. The knowledge gathered from a tool can be incorporated into future listings or content development.

On the other hand, if you are a buyer, it’s beneficial to be fully aware of all your options. You may discover that there is something out there for you that isn’t a big brand but meets your needs much better. Knowing whether a product is worth purchasing will allow you to make better financial decisions!
